WHILE LOOKING OUT

Wind was a broom
along facial contours,

Ants were like hair
dancing on broken skin,

While granite shores
scraped decent veins,

The sun was a bitch
holed up in muddy irises,

Tree trunks collapsed
to become molded legs,

And I felt for the first time:
only nature was ever honest,

Not man.
