ON RED DAWN

On red dawn the horses scream,
Gallop high and lap the stream.
Women cry while children dare,
Men take hold of poisoned air.

On red dawn the horses scream,
Pray to Moon for daybreak gleam.
Nights rest on the backs of storms
To fall through winds forevermore.

On red dawn the horses scream,
Stare at light in hallowed beams.
Dust settled on the beads of dew.
I am here. Where are you?

On red dawn the horses scream.
Alone I wake from such a dream.
