SUN FLOWER AND MOON

I thought I knew what you needed
I was certain I was certain this time
Emerging as the sun went down
I’d always waited ’til night

My light useless but bright enough
To at least wake you from a natural sleep
But I’d rather see orange peaches of the sun
Than see a fallen willow weep

What possesses you, too, caresses you
Because the essence of love hangs over you
And directs you toward a low, harsh sun
Reside and confide in the golden one

I was left in the dark
Only guided by intuition
Guided by what I was given
Which proved to be, at least to me, what solely set us apart

But I digress as I express
My lack of regret in these words of stress
We’ve got to let it all fall to make progress
I’ll go on while you obsess, and leave you with your happiness

What possesses you, too, caresses you
Because the essence of love hangs over you
And directs you toward a low, harsh sun
Reside and confide in the golden one

You let yourself continue following
Although he’s gone down day after day
But you’re no essential as I go around
I’ll let my own light keep guiding my way

I thought I knew what you needed
I was certain I was certain this time
